Brother Hl 2140 Network Setup

 Follow these guidelines to perform the network setup for the Brother HL 2140 printer.


Make sure to have the Wi-Fi details in hand before proceeding with the steps given below.

Connect the Brother printer’s power cable to the HL 2140 device and the power outlet. Power on the Brother device.

Insert the Brother HL 2140 printer driver into your computer or double-click the printer driver you have downloaded on the computer.

Choose the Install Printer Brother Hl 2140 Driver option. Click the Wireless Network users option.

On the next screen, select the Wireless Setup and Driver Install radio button. Click the Step by Step Install radio button and click Next.

Click the With Cable radio button and then select Next.

Choose the Automatic radio button and click Next.

Select the ‘I’m able to temporarily connect my device to my access point with a network cable’ radio button. Click Next.

Use a network cable to connect the Brother HL 2140 printer and access point. Choose Next.

The available wireless devices are shown on the screen. Choose the Brother HL 2140 printer from the list and then select Next. (It appears as BRNxxxxx.)

Disable firewall temporarily to allow the installer wizard to look for wireless networks to which the Brother printer can be connected.

Choose the correct access point from the list and select Next. Make sure you don’t choose the SETUP SSID as this is the default Brother printer SSID.

You can use the 'Add' button to add the access point manually if the installer wizard fails to find the access point automatically.

Click OK if the ‘Wireless Network is not secure’ screen appears. It is recommended that you add a security layer to the Wi-Fi SSID via WEP/WPS to prevent unauthorized Wi-Fi use.

Select the correct authentication method and encryption mode from the respective drop-down lists. Enter the correct network key in the Network Key and Confirm Network Key fields. Click Next.

Check whether the settings shown on the screen are correct and then click Next.

The ‘Disconnecting Your Device and Access Point’ screen appears. Ensure that the Brother HL 2140 printer’s front cover is closed and then press the Go button on the printer three times quickly. Doing this prints the printer settings page.

Check whether the status reads Link OK on the printer settings page. Now, the Brother HL 2140 printer driver is installed on the computer. Disconnect the Brother printer’s cable from the printer and access point. Click Next on the Install Printer Brother Hl 2140 wizard window.

Follow the Brother printer installer wizard’s on-screen prompts to finish the Brother HL 2140 driver installation.
